The 3 Glass Wharf development is a £33m project comprising 15,000 sq m of office space in Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone and is due to be occupied by HMRC.
The construction, which is now underway, will take place over a 100-week period and the development will include retail space and basement car parking.
The contractor had previously worked on the neighbouring 2 Glass Wharf office development, which was completed in 2016.
Wates’ refurbishment of the 13,700 sq m head office of British technology company Dyson will include raised floors and mezzanine levels to optimise floor space, as well as meeting rooms, new research and development labs, and workshops.
Work is due to begin in March 2017.
These additions to Wates’ portfolio bring the combined value of its regional order book to over £150m.
Peter Whitmore, business unit director at Wates Construction, said: “To have secured two of the most important developments in the region is a significant acknowledgement of Wates’ reputation as a reputed and trusted contractor and it gives me and the team a huge sense of pride.
“Building upon our regional project base presents us with a great opportunity to use our work to invest in the regional economy through our local supply chain partners.”
